Storytelling and motivation

Training course

Creating the motivation for real and meaningful change requires a deeper understanding of motivational theory.

Unfortunately, standard definitions of motivational theory are limited in scope when it comes to understanding intrinsic motivation, the motivation that comes from within. The ability to work with intrinsic motivation is necessary if we are to become storytellers, and if we are to create powerful narratives of change.

Our specialist training programme on storytelling and motivation explores new approaches to motivational theory, and how to awaken the motivation for real and authentic change by connecting your audiences to a purpose, and to drive behaviours through meaningful storytelling.

What you will learn?

On this training programme you will learn the following:

Is this training for me?

If you are looking for new insights and approaches into motivating audiences, then this training is ideal for you. You will especially benefit from this training if you are looking to motivate audiences to take action on your cause, whether it is fundraising, campaigning, volunteering, attending an event, or engaging with the service you provide. The insights you will receive on this training are highly adaptable and can be applied to a whole range of situations and scenarios.  We recommend this training especially for anyone who is looking to create long-term behaviour change, cultural change or to motivate audiences without use fear or guilt tactics.

Do I need this training, I already know about motivational theory?

This training programme offers a new motivational model for you to use in your work. Most motivational models fall short of working with interior drivers, and fail to differentiate between stages 5-8 on the motivational continuum. We base our insights for our model on cutting-edge research in neuropsychology, that explores the link between right hemisphere attention and motivational drivers. This is new and exciting research that has huge potential for our work, and we are delighted to be able to offer you these new and unique insights into motivational theory.

For this training you must be willing to explore interiority (our inner life), and how to use interior drivers to create strong motivational triggers.

Due to a whole range of historical reasons, our culture and dominant way of thinking is very weak on interior approaches to thinking. The result is, just like the famous meme of the badly drawn horse, we excel at creating extrinsic motivation to drive behaviour, but when it comes to intrinsic motivation that demands an understanding of our inner lives and what drives us, our thinking is shockingly simplistic. It’s time to change this naive perception.
